I’m Raina, the creator of Sprinkle Me Sugar. I’m a fourth-generation baker and stay-at-home mom of twins.
Baking is in my DNA. One of my earliest memories is watching my mom and grandma make pies and eating thumbprint cookies my mom made for me out of leftover pie crust dough and jam. My great-grandmother baked and sold pound cakes and fruit cakes during the great depression in order to provide for her seven children, my grandmother and grandfather baked and decorated cakes in the 50s, and my mom is known in our family as the pie queen.
I’ve been baking as long as I can remember, wholly fascinated with the way simple ingredients can come together to make a special treat, something that brings joy to someone else’s life.
After quitting my career in fashion retail to stay at home with my twin boys, I experienced what many women experience everyday—the deep lows of postpartum depression and anxiety. I started baking during the boys naps for friends and family, and the simple act of creating something special for others helped heal me.
Sprinkle Me Sugar started there—as a way to heal through bringing joy to others, and bringing joy to others through beautiful and delicious treats remains our core mission.
